Purpose of use
The following reference is for the Neurochirurgischen Klinik der Universitätsklinik Erlangen, Germany. This project was the first worldwide iMRI solution from BrainLAB®. The combination of MRI diagnostics, intra-operative 3D imaging and neurosurgical navigation systems, similar to GPS, all integrated into an Operation Room (OR) has considerably increased the precision of surgical interventions. By increasing the precision of the surgical intrusion and thus reducing the necessity of further surgery, this new advanced technology is especially beneficial during complex surgical intervention in the brain.

Albatross Projects delivered for this first iMRI BrainSuit® a turn-key solution which included the RF room, LF-shielding, inner lining and all accessories, e.g. quench-tubing, built-in ceiling OR lighting, etc. The suspension from the ceiling of components such as the VectorVision Sky navigation unit required a new reinforced modular ceiling for the RF room. The fixation of the specially developed rotating operating table to the building floor also made a special design of the modular shielded floor a necessity. The entrance to the shielded OR is by means of a sliding RF-door with a seamless threshold, and this, together with the stainless steel inner lining, complies to the strict specifications of OR requirements.
