Purpose of use
The following describes the use of an MRI-System for the “Universitá degli Studi di Trento, Trento, Italy”. The MRI-System is in use at the Institute CIMEC, which is part of to the Universitá degli Studi di Trento, and is dedicated to the research on the human brain by analysis of its functional properties. A Bruker MRI-System is used to investigate the neuronal correlates of cognitive processes through an imaging method.
- MRI-System Bruker Med Spec 4.0T
- RF room made of steel
- Dimensions (L x W x H) = 9.550 x 6.700 x 3.000mm
- Start up in October 2005
The size and the place of this RF room are quite unusual! The large size of the RF room is due to the high magnetic field generated by the 4.0 Tesla MRI-System, while its location required ‘rock blasting’ of the local terrain to create sufficient space for hosting the RF room. To ease the conduction of research experiments by visualising images within the RF-shielded area an outside LCD projector is used. To easy the conduction of research experiments by visualising images within the RF-shielded area, the high magnetic fields necessitated the LCD Projector to be located externally. However, with a special feed-through element installed at 26,5° this allows the images to be viewed inside the enclosure.
(Note: The latest technology of LCD housing protects the projector from the high magnetic fields thus enabling it to be located inside the RF room)
