Purpose of use
This MRI-System is installed at the Deutschen Krebsforschungszentrum, Heidelberg, Germany. The MRI-System installed at the Deutschen Krebsforschungszentrum is in use in the Department of medical physics of the Radiology Institute and is dedicated to physical, biological and technical research on cancer localisation and therapy.
- MRI-System Siemens MAGNETOM Avanto 1.5T
- RF room made of steel
- Dimensions (L x W x H) = 8.660 x 5.810 x 3.700mm
- Start up of the MRI-System after refurbishment in November 2004; first installation was in 1992
The large size of the RF room and the two extra large daylight RF windows in the ceiling create a bright and comfortable environment, this giving a more calming and relaxing atmosphere to the patients. Because of host building conditions, the MRI-System was delivered into the RF room through its ceiling; this was easily and quickly achieved by reopening the room´s ceiling, after the RF-tightness measurements, further demonstrating an advantage of the Albatross Projects modular self-standing construction. The modular stainless steel panel technology offers easy solutions when modifications to the RF room are required; this was illustrated when an additional large feed-through for the utilisation of an LCD Projector was installed during the renewal of the MRI-System.
