Anechoic Chamber for 5m testing on multipurpose applications (Testing House)

In the late 1980s, this 5m Semi-Anechoic chamber was originally designed and installed at the LGA in Nurnberg, Germany, which is now TÜV Rheinland, as a 5m Full Anechoic Chamber. During 2009, the facility was refurbished to be compliant to the latest revision of the CISPR 16-1-4 and today, it is used for full-compliance radiated emission measurements in the 3m and 5m test distances, as well as radiated immunity testing in the 3m test distance. For small EUTs, the chamber is used for pre-compliance testing in the 10m test range. The facility covers the whole frequency range 26MHz to 40GHz in accordance with the latest editions of International, US and European standards for EMC testing and site validation.

Typical EUTs (Equipments Under Test) are industrial machines, scientific and medical equipment (ISM), entertainment systems, as well as information technologies equipment (ITE).

Radiated Emission Measurements

  • 30MHz to 1GHz: Full compliance with ANSI C63.4 and CISPR 16-1-4 in 3m and 5m measuring distance
  • 1GHz to 18GHz: Full compliance with CISPR 16-1-4 in 3m and 5m measuring distance
  • Quiet Zone: Ø5m in 3m and 5m distance, floor standing

 

Radiated Immunity Tests

  • 80MHz to 18GHz: Full compliance with EN 61000-4-3
  • 1.5m x 1.5m uniform field in 3m test distance

 

Features

The chambers original 5m turntable was modified for a higher load bearing and to ‘flush’ fit into the chambers groundplane; there is also an antenna mast and controller. The floor RF absorbers are removable 12”, 18” and 30” resistive foam as well as matched hybrid RF absorbers. 
Other customized solutions for EUT interfacing were included, e.g. additional RFI power line and signal line filters, RF shielded CCTV camera system, audio intercom, smoke detection, fiber optic converters.
