Remote controlled antenna masts allow for the automatic change of the antenna polarisation and the continuos variation of the antenna height. The physical vicinity of the mast to the antenna, calls for care in the used materials and in the design of the mast in order to avoid couplings between the two. Metal parts in the design of an antenna mast should be avoided, i.e. limited to the base plate and to the area at the bottom of the equipment. Another important issue is the position accuracy of the antenna mast, which should not be in excess of ±1cm.

The solution and components shown below is the most used by Albatross Projects. For further information please use our multipurpose contact form.

compact antenna mast (CAM)

The CAM 4.0-P-12kg is a reinforced type based upon the design of the CAM4.0-P. It provides higher antenna load capability. This antenna mast is suitable for use in either open areas or in electromagnetic absorption chambers. Guy wires and anchoring pins are available for antenna installation in open areas. The CAM 4.0-P-12kg antenna mast has no metal parts above the drive unit. Special designs are available upon request. The mast tube can be delivered in 2 separate parts for easy transportation and storage. Polarisation rotation is always around the antenna axis to avoid elevation errors. The GPIB (IEEE 488) bus, when operated with the MCU Controller, provides an additional control option for all functions.
