ISO 9001 describes a quality system and is prepared by the technical committee ISO/TC 176 “quality management and quality assurance”. The European standard is EN ISO 9001 which in Germany is referred to as DIN EN ISO 9001. ISO 9001:2008 was issued in December 2008 which superseded ISO 9001:2000 with minor changes.
Where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products that meets customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, the scope of this international standard is to specify a quality management system that meets those aims and to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system. The implementation of ISO 9001 shall include processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity demonstrating applicable statutory and regulatory requirements is met.
During 2003 Albatross Projects introduced a quality management system achieving certification to ISO 9001:2000 in July 2003. This was further enhanced in 2009 with a successful recertification compliant to ISO 9001:2008.
